Every story starts somewhere.
Sometimes it begins with the spark of an idea, a conversation that lingers long after it ends, scribbled out rough drafts you believe will never see the light of day or a feeling that refuses to be ignored. However it may start out, every beginning carries a unique kind of promise: the promise of possibility.
It is fitting then that the debut issue of Insert Title is dedicated to the theme of beginnings.
As a magazine, Insert Title exists because just as every good thing does, it has a beginning. Born from an idea formed by scribbled out rough drafts created out of passion and a desire to create a community where art, beauty, fashion and culture intersect, this publication began as a vision, one that grew through curiosity, creativity and a belief in a passion too strong to ignore. Like any first chapter though, its creation has been filled with excitement, uncertainty and inspiration.
The beginning is often romanticized as a singular moment, but in reality, it's a layered process. They are built from countless small decisions, risks taken before certainty arrives and acts of faith as to what the process might reveal. They require us to continue on in spite of not knowing what lies ahead, whether the risk is worth the reward.
The creatives featured throughout this issue understand that just as anyone else. Their work explores their own beginnings in all their forms, personal transformations, creative awakenings, fresh perspectives and the courage required to continue on. Together, these stories remind us that beginnings are not reserved for a single moment in time, they happen continuously. Every collection, poem, film and story starts with an idea waiting to be realized. Creation asks us to embrace the uncertainty of beginning, in order to trust the process of becoming.
That spirit lies at the heart of this issue and at the heart of Insert Title itself.
As we turn the page on this first new chapter, we do so with gratitude for the contributors, collaborators and readers who have joined us from this brand new start. Your support helps transform an idea into something tangible, something shared and something real.
This is our beginning, and we are appreciative of you all for joining us.
